According to the details, Director Excise Qamarul Hassan Sajid while giving an exclusive interview to a private web said that earlier we had a district code, like when a vehicle was being registered in Lahore, the first two letters were LE but now we have changed it. We are now starting the series with Triple A (AAA) for cars and motorcycles while we are starting the series with CAA for commercial vehicles and this series will continue.
He said that we have now implemented it all over Punjab and it has been named as "Universal Registration Series". All over Punjab, vehicles and motorcycles will now be registered under the same series in each category. By looking at the number plate or card, it will not be known whether it is registered in Bahalpur, Multan or registered from Lahore, but it will be known that it is a Punjab Registered Vehicle.
He said that we were facing an administrative problem that the demand for Lahore number was high in the sale and purchase of vehicles, so the vehicle was bought in all the districts of Faisalabad, Multan and Punjab but people used to come to Lahore for its registration.
